You don’t need a specific filming permit to shoot in Missouri.
In general, if you would like to film on private property, you only need the owner’s permission.
Depending on the size of your production, street closure or other regulations may apply. Some municipalities and state and federal agencies may require permits to shoot at certain locations, such as state and federal parks, within their jurisdiction.
Are rural locations within driving distance of St. Louis or Kansas City?
Yes. There are small towns and farmland locations within a half-hour drive from our major cities. Contact us for recommendations specific to your needs.
Can the Missouri Film Office help local, independent filmmakers make their movie?
While our office is not involved in the funding of films, we’d be happy to assist you with finding locations, production resources, contacts or any additional information you need to get your project off the ground.
